Former Atlanta Braves All-Star and two-time baseball MVP Dale Murphy will be the Keynote Speaker at the boys and girls Club of Greeneville and Greene County 9th Annual Champions Dinner.The event will be held in Greene County Fairgrounds at the Expo Center on September 17th. The event is organized in order to raise funds for the organization that helps several children yearly throughout Greeneville and Greene County.They serve the children with a range of after-school and summer programs,sports events and several community and outreach programs. Forward Air & Laughlin Memorial Hospital has sponsored this event, which will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. to meet Dale Murphy, dinner at 6:30 p.m, followed by the evening program.
Recognized as the true gentlemen of the game, Murphy persists to lead by example, supporting abundant valuable charities. He travels the country on behalf of his foundation -- "I Won't Cheat"--educating kids regarding the dangers of steroids ,as well as other performance-enhancing drugs. In 1987, Murphy was chosen by Sports Illustrated as one of its "Sportsmen of the Year," representing major league baseball as the athlete "Who Cares the Most" and was also privileged as such by President Ronald Reagan at the White House the same year. He is a favorite motivational speaker and now juggles his time between charity work, church activities and his family.
