Women's Conference 2009, a 2 day event targeted as one to transform women inside and out - and then empower them in order to help them transform their world as architects of change, kicked off recently at the Long Beach Convention Center, California in two parts. The morning portion "A Day of Transformation" featured experts and speakers leading professional, educational and individual improvement sessions.The evening event, "A Night at the Village," established in two exhibit halls, were transformed totally into a 160,000sq. foot "women's village." The annual affair is a day set aside for the empowerment, inspiration, and transformation for women all around the world.Attendees are privileged to participate in education and motivational sessions and pay attention to speeches given by powerful men and women in various fields such as politics, business, arts, medicine as well as pop culture. Madeline Albright, Katie Couric, Elizabeth Edwards, Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger, Alicia Keys, and Maria Shriver are some of this year’s motivational speakers at the conference. Dalton Sherman is a 11-year-old motivational speaker, a live testament to the difference a teacher's belief can make in a student's achievement. Last year Dalton gave an motivating back-to-school speech that brought some 20,000 Dallas school teachers to their feet in roaring ovation and the video was posted on YouTube.Presently Dalton is a celebrity of sorts.
He's appeared on Oprah Winfrey's and Ellen DeGeneres' talk shows. Dalton has been familiar with Donald Trump, poet Maya Angelou and U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan. Dallas schools spokesman Jon Dahlander stated that the power of YouTube hits again for Dalton Sherman and he is happy that it has happened to great kid.
2 years ago Dalton's approach with words occasionally proved too troublesome for the classroom. His teacher at the time Irene Redmond, encouraged him to locate additional paths for his talent. The speech that's acquired him so much fame in some ways is a mark of reverence to Redmond's belief in his capability to be successful in life.
His folks say that Dalton's increasing fame has never gone to his head. He remains the same kid who enjoys shooting, horsing around with his siblings and scrambling eggs for his family at breakfast .He's a straight-A, sixth-grader at a Dallas magnet school and has had a tough time in maintaining a low profile.
Lately, a Fort Worth-based international theater group called Kids Who Care,made Dalton's "Believe in Me", speech into a musical in which he starred in recent times .One of his major presentations came in June, when his audience included about 24,000 people at a global training conference in Charlotte, N.C., for ACN Inc., a direct-marketing company. Lisa Krass, who directs events for ACN stated that he was unbelievable.He had every person seated on the edge of their seats, as they were longing to hear what he would be saying next.
Meanwhile Dalton humbly admits he has no clue why his speech is drawing such immense attention.He however said that he is just enjoying delivering speeches.
