Opportunity knocks
Starting a business was hard for Rachel Bur and her husband, Moe Zaw. The Frederick couple's jump into unexplored territory with limited resources is paying off thanks in part to a $50,000 Frederick County Small Business Revolving Loan Fund, mutual with hard work and persistence.
Since the pair opened Asian Supermarket on West Patrick Street in February 2003, the business has extended from an initial 1,800 square feet to more than 3,000 square feet. Additional expansion plans are being contemplate and the loan was paid off in November 2005, Bur said. Frederick County Economic Development officials sleet the business as a victory story.
